POVERTY ALLEVIATION

In an increasingly interconnected world, what happens in our neighborhood, community and around the globe affects us all.
The challenge of growing poverty and disease in our country and the developing countries can be addressed if we individually recognize our role as first our neighbor’s keeper, then global citizens and take steps forward to make a difference.
We are dedicated to assisting village communities in their quest to achieve a healthy, sustainable life, by exploring ways to sustain low income families and communities.
We are working to help insure sustainable self-sufficiency. This vision of hope is possible with the help of people like you.

OUR FOCUS? CHILDREN
Children are an innocent part of our everyday life. They quietly adjust to their surroundings and situation but that does not reflect their emotional and physical stability. In a recent survey by The Nation Children, we asked two groups of children the first group being in middle income families what they would want as birthday presents. Most of them asked for electronic games, designer clothing and accessories.

The second group came from diverse communities such as low income families in the Unites States and Africa. It was touching to hear what they wanted. They asked for clothing and to go to school, books to read, toys to play with (no specifications) and for some their most need was enough to eat to sustain them for the day.
Some of these disadvantaged children had never been in a classroom not by choice. The rural area had found ways of teaching them through a community effort but lacked the resources.

TNC works in collaboration with and the human services department and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to implement sustainable solutions for community survival, education, and growth. The Nation Children brings together self-sacrificing and passionate community volunteers who help with our material donation pick ups, in Africa rely on indigenous resources, and build upon their existing cultural and economic context.

TNC acknowledges that there are many low income families who know how to get out of their problems, but do not have access to the necessary resources and support. Rather than hindering growth by creating a dependency on the outside resources, we work side by side with families through our child related programs to self sufficiency.

In Africa, our skilled volunteers encourage self-empowerment whiles they help develop income developing projects: all village projects are initiated, executed, and managed by locals.
